Nicht nur für den Photoshop CS2, sondern auch für den Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 hat der Software-Hersteller die Produktaktvierung abgeschaltet. Vorgesehen ist, dass damit jedem, der diese in Windows-XP-Zeiten erschienene Software erworben hat, die Nutzung umstandslos ermöglicht werden soll. Der Download ist immer noch aktiv und in unserem Onlineshop oben rechts bei den Downloads verlinkt. Die Installations-Codes hat Adobe wie folgt veröffentlicht:

Theoretisch hat damit jetzt jedermann die Möglichkeit, Acrobat Pro 8.0 kostenfrei zu nutzen. Praktisch stößt aber die Installation auf einem Windows-Computer mit aktuellem Betriebssystem auf zwei kleine Hürden.
Erste Hürde: Sie müssen die heruntergeladene .exe-Datei mit der rechten Maustaste anklicken und als Administrator ausführen. Das Extrahieren der Dateien bricht ansonsten mit einer Fehlermeldung ab.
Zweite Hürde: Startet man die Installation, erscheint nach einiger Zeit die Fehlermeldung: „The file AdobePDF.dll on Windows Vista CD-ROM is needed.“ Hier bitte auf „Browse“ klicken, eine Ebene höher gehen, in den Ordner AMD64 wechseln und dort die Datei AdobePDF.dll doppelklicken und die Installation fortsetzen. Siehe hier.
Die Installation läuft dann durch. Eventuelle weitere Fehlermeldungen können ignoriert werden.
Mit dem Acrobat Pro 8.0 lassen sich professionelle PDF-Dateien erstellen. Da diese Version gegenüber den – sehr teuren – neuen Varianten des Acrobat kaum Nachteile hat, ist es aber wahrscheinlich nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis Adobe den Download abschaltet. Es empfiehlt sich deshalb, die Original-Software schnell herunterzuladen.
