The not-so-ordinary first-person shooter game called 'Superhot' is finally being released for PC, Mac and Linux later this month on February 25. A report in Polygon calls it an 'unusual' FPS because of its different game dynamics, which is time-based and switches from one perspective of the player shooting at enemies to another where the player has to dodge bullets being shot at him.

The independently-developed game was first conceptualized in 2013 during a seven-day game jam for first-person shooter games. In 2014, the game launched a Kickstarter campaign which fed into the game's development. A beta version of the game was released in August 2105, which was only provided for those who funded the game through the campaign.
Recently, game developer Superhot Team announced that the game is coming to PC, Mac and Linux platforms within February. Xbox One users will also get a console version of the game a month after, according to the Polygon report.
According to Polygon's description of the game, which was a finalist at the Independent Games Festival, it is a shooter where 'time only moves when the player does.' The player has 'plenty of time to shoot incoming foes, but not a lot of time to get into position for an accurate shot.' For a better feel of the game, several gameplay videos have already been circulating.
An Engadget report also describes gameplay as one that has limited ammo, because you only get whatever weapons you can get your hands-ons, no power-ups and a player with only one life.

The report in Engadget says that the game will be available on Steam for $14 for the regular version, while $25 will get gamers a copy of the game plus its soundtrack and a PDF art book. The Xbox One version will be available within the next few weeks, according to the report.

Though the game follows traditional first-person shooter gameplay mechanics, with the player attempting to take out enemy targets using guns and other weapons, time within the game progresses at normal speed only when the player moves; this creates the opportunity for the player to assess their situation in slow motion and respond appropriately, making the gameplay similar to strategy video games. The game is presented in a minimalist art style, with enemies in red and weapons in black, in contrast to the otherwise white and grey environment.
The game originated as an entry in the 2013 7 Day FPS Challenge, which Superhot Team expanded into a browser-based demonstration that September. Widespread attention from the demonstration prompted the team to develop the full game, using Kickstarter to secure funding to complete the title. Superhot was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux in February 2016. Versions for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch were released in May 2016, July 2017, and August 2019, respectively. A rebuilt version of the game to better support virtual reality, Superhot VR, was released for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR headset devices. A standalone expansion, Superhot: Mind Control Delete, which utilizes roguelike elements such as procedural generation and permadeath, became available through early access in December 2017.
The game was met with positive reception, with reviewers considering the title to be an innovative take on the first-person shooter genre.
